6th Grade History

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and attended Loyola High School. I was fortunate to receive a baseball scholarship to UCLA where I received a bachelor's degree in History. After college, I worked in Finance for 10 years but decided to follow in the footsteps of my parents, who are both educators. After leaving my job trading Commodities, I earned my teaching credential in 2009 and a Master's degree in "Best Practices in 21st Education" in 2011.

Some of my greatest memories in life have happened because of athletics, and sports continue to play a large role in my life. I have almost a decade of experience coaching baseball and football at the high school level. My involvement in sports, both participating and coaching, has helped shape my philosophies in life and in the classroom.

Before joining New West in 2019, I taught U.S. and World History, Economics, and Government at the high school level.

In my spare time, I enjoy working in my woodshop and cooking. My wife's family has an olive orchard in Ventura where they make olive oil. My favorite thing to do is spending time with my dogs Scully (after Dodger announcer Vin Scully) and Buttercup (named by my goddaughter). My mom was born in Hawaii and we have an enormous family who lives on the island, so we take advantage of any excuse to visit Hawaii and see family and friends. Aloha!
