Justin Merz is excited to become the newest member of the New West Charter resource team serving 6th and 7th graders on the Pico campus.
Mr. Merz believes in empowering his students by teaching self-advocacy and perseverance through relationship and skill building. Moreover, he believes that by guiding students as they learn to advocate for themselves, they will become empowered to make their own decisions about their educational goals.
Mr. Merz is an alumnus of Brenau University in Atlanta Georgia where he received a BS in Middle Grades Education and holds a Masters of Fine Arts from Cal State Fullerton. Mr. Merz has served public and private school students from 6-12 in the West Los Angeles area for over fifteen years.
When he’s not teaching, Mr. Merz is writing and pitching stories around town or spinning records. He lives with his wife, daughter, and dog Bowie in the Pacific Palisades.
