Music

Riley Robledo (they/them) began their musical journey in the third grade as a violinist and quickly developed a deep curiosity for sound. By the end of middle school, they had added bass, drums, saxophone, and tuba to their skill set, beginning a lifelong commitment to multi-instrumentalism that continues today.

Mx. Robledo studied music at Harvard University, where they refined both their musicianship and musicological understanding of the art form. After completing their undergraduate degree, they began teaching privately at a nonprofit music school in San Diego. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Riley transitioned to full-time online instruction through their own sole proprietorship, working with students across a wide range of levels and backgrounds.

In 2022, Mx. Robledo moved to San Francisco to teach at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, where they also began their formal path toward teacher credentialing. They completed their Master’s in Education at Alliant International University in May 2025, further grounding their teaching practice in pedagogy, equity, and student-centered learning.

Beyond the classroom, Riley remains actively engaged in independent and subcultural music scenes. They have performed at SXSW with a rock band, toured throughout San Diego with a dream pop project, recorded and produced multiple artists (including one gaining recognition in the Latin American music sphere), DJ’d regularly in San Francisco, and recently completed recording a skramz EP.

Mx. Robledo looks forward to contributing their broad musical background, professional experience, and passion for creative expression to the New West Charter community in Los Angeles.
