Margarita Faynerman
7th Grade Science
I am extremely excited to return for a fifth year of science exploration at New West Charter!
Prior to New West, I taught 7th- and 8th-grade science for seven years at Green Dot Public Schools where I helped close the achievement gap for students in South Los Angeles. While there, I also served as Science Department Chair and Professional Development Leader for Science, a role that allowed me to impact the organization through training teachers in the effective implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from UCLA. After college, I spent time traveling to four continents and teaching English in Ukraine, where I was also born. This role allowed me to realize my passion for teaching, and I went back to school to earn my science teaching credential from CSUN.
Outside of teaching, I love to read and cuddle with my 150-pound English Mastiff. I look forward to an exciting year of learning in the science classroom!
