I am thrilled to have joined the NWC+ team in the subject of English Language Arts. I grew up in the New York City suburbs where I played the drums and guitar in lots of bands, warmed up the bench for the basketball team, and crushed some tennis matches along the way. I worked at Camp Canadensis, atop the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, for many summers in between. After receiving my B.A. in Music Production from Indiana University, I worked in the entertainment industry for a few years, and I wound up doing a lot of writing within the field. My passion for composition rushed back, and eventually, I decided to combine my love of writing, analyzing all sorts of media, and working with students to become an English teacher. I received my M.A. from Teachers College at Columbia University. Since making the cross-country trek, I am on the lookout for the best pizza in Los Angeles. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
As an English teacher, I love all forms of texts and will always bring diverse literature, music, film, and other media into the classroom. We will discuss and deeply analyze the application of these stories within the larger picture of our world. We will foster a sense of community and authenticity in our discussions to create a safe space for students to be expressive through meaningful rhetoric and discourse.
