My name is Roger Rivera and I am the Counseling Intern at New West. I received my bachelor’s degree at the University of California Santa Cruz, majoring in Politics, Latin American Latino Studies, and minoring in Education. I am currently in my 3rd year as a graduate student at Loyola Marymount University in their Clinical and School Counseling Program.
Prior to coming to New West, I developed a passion for supporting students to ensure that we are fostering critically-minded leaders. I had the opportunity to develop various youth programs in the non-profit field that emphasized leadership development. In addition, I also spent time as a high school college counselor supporting students through their educational and professional goals.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking throughout Southern California and spending time in the outdoors. Also, I enjoy riding my bike and exploring different biking trails.
I look forward to ensuring that we are creating a community where our student's mental and physical health are nurtured and supported as we transition into a new learning environment.
