Spanish

¡Hola! My name is Ms. Chavez Gonzalez and this will be my second year of teaching as well as my second year at New West Charter. I am looking forward to meeting all of my students and families, as well as to what this new school year will bring.

A little bit about myself is that I was born in Michoacán, México, but my whole life I was raised here in Southern California. I went to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in June 2020 and the Single Subject Teaching Credential in December 2021.

From the start, I already knew that teaching was my passion as I have always enjoyed learning and interacting with my fellow classmates. Although, the specific reason why I chose to become a Spanish teacher is because I wanted to be able to share a part of who I am and my culture as well as be able to provide a safe and positive learning environment for students to be able to express who they are, too. My hopes for this upcoming school year is that students will learn more about the Spanish-speaking world as well as share their own culture and traditions within the classroom.
