Conner Ayers, Ed.D
Spanish
World Languages Department Chair
11th-Grade Lead Teacher
Hola y Bienvenidos.
My name is Conner Ayers and I am teaching Spanish 2 this year and I am also the World Languages Department Chair and 11th-grade Lead Teacher. This will be my 5th year at New West and my eighth year teaching overall.
As a native Midwesterner, I grew up in the city of Indianapolis where I attended Elementary, Middle and High school. I went on to study Spanish and Education at Indiana University which is in the great college town of Bloomington. Go Hoosiers!
I spent my last semester at IU student teaching at a high school in the Chicago Public Schools. I truly enjoyed the experience and it solidified my desire to be a teacher.
I moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 2013 with an organization called Teach For America. I spent 2 years teaching at a middle school in Koreatown and 1 year teaching at a high school in Watts in South Los Angeles. During this time, I completed my Masters Degree at Loyola Marymount University. Go Lions! I recently finished my doctorate at USC. Fight On!!!
Last year was my fourth year at New West. I really enjoy working with the students and staff here and I am looking forward to another great year.
In my free time, I enjoy running, eating at new restaurants, and watching the Colts, Pacers, and IU basketball on tv.
